Contemporary Inspirational Romance Book Review: True to You

Publisher's Description:

"After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another."

My Book Review:

Becky Wade’s True to you, the first novel in the Bradford Sisters Romance series, is truly the kind of book an avid reader endeavors to find!  It is one of those rare books that with every turn of the page there artfully unfolds an intriguing, contemporary plot brimming with clean romance, mystery, and surprises. It is a book that effortlessly includes unique settings, interesting characters, and themes of faith and truth blossoming through heartbreak and redemption. It is a book that revels in big words, knows the importance of soothing cups of hot tea, makes space for fine chocolate, and of course, includes cabbage. (Yes, cabbage!)

Often while reading this book I giggled and then I laughed. (Really laughed.) I held my breath, and then I cried. (Real tears running down my face.) When I held this novel in my hands, I wanted more than anything to ignore all of my life’s demands, and just sit with this book and read it. (Really. Read. It.) This book grabbed me, held me, and left its mark on my heart and on my imagination.

True to You is not a book that I will simply place on my shelf to gather dust now that I have read the final pages. Oh, no!  It most certainly will reside in my stack of books to be loaned out to friends and family. It is a book that will be read again by me in the future, especially when I find that my life would indubitably be blessed by some laughter and some tears. (And some cabbage , of course.)
