Publisher's Description

After running away from her wedding and hiding for months, Violet Berkley is back home in the high country of Colorado. Her father’s gambling debt has caught up to him, and he wants Violet and her sister to help him pay it off by working as dancing girls in a saloon. Rather than face such degradation, Violet seeks out the one man she hopes might be willing to help her.

Sterling Noble doesn’t want anything to do with Violet after being jilted at the altar by her. He doesn’t want to see her, be near her, or even speak to her. But when she shows up on his doorstep in desperate straits, he’s too kind—and maybe still too in love with her—to do anything but protect her.

Violet knows she doesn’t deserve another chance with Sterling, but she wants to prove she’s a new woman. But has she really changed, or are the insecurities still there? Sterling tries hard to resist his old feelings for Violet because his broken heart can’t take another beating. But as the danger closes in, he’s afraid he’ll lose her all over again.

My Review

The Forever Cowboy, by Jody Hedlund, is the first book in the Noble Ranch series. This western, historical romance is truly special. Captivating characters and a gripping plot, make this book quite moving. This novel easily entertains and inspires as elements of history, adventure, and romance blend together nicely to create a story that is meaningful and memorable.

Winter in the Colorado mountains, with all its dangerous beauty provides a variety of chances for the characters in this book to face their fears and insecurities, as well as contemplate their faith. As they break down barriers that threaten their dreams for the future, these characters are inspirational. Their struggle for authenticity and vulnerability is compelling. Throughout the book, there are genuine surprises and unexpected moments that are both thrilling and endearing. Perilous scenes are balanced by scenes of hope, and the story finds meaning in relevant themes of courage, resiliency, forgiveness, trust, and second chances.

In The Forever Cowboy, Ms. Hedlund thoughtfully showcases her talent for crafting novels that are rich in descriptive detail, integral settings, complex characterization, and riveting storylines. It is a stirring novel and a genuine pleasure to read. Romantic and moving, I gladly recommend it. I am also eager to read the next book in this series!
