Publisher's Book Description
Fleeing from her husband’s murderer, Amelia Stone makes it to Breckenridge, Colorado, as a mail-order bride. When she’s thrust into a wedding with her groom by an excited crowd, she hopes that this time she will have a respected place in the community and a happy home to give to her unborn baby.
Thatcher is relieved his bride has finally arrived, but it doesn’t take long after the wedding for him to realize that many things about his new wife don’t add up. When he and Amelia finally figure out there’s been a bride mix-up, they’ve already started developing feelings for each other. But Thatcher’s real mail-order bride is still on the way. Can they find a way to stay together before it’s too late?
My Review
The Favored Cowboy is the second book in the Noble Ranch series by Jody Hedlund. This historical romance novel engages the reader with its memorable characters, rustic settings, and compelling plot. This mail-order-bride story is thoughtful and entertaining. With just the right blend of history, intrigue, and romance, it is an enjoyable book from beginning to end.
This novel is set within the small town and busy ranches of the mountainous Colorado Territory. In this rugged, rural land, faulty assumptions, misunderstandings, secrets, and unspoken insecurities foster many challenges for the characters to encounter and overcome. Though they try to act selflessly and with honor, the consequences of their choices are daunting. Even as their happiness and plans for the future are at risk, they must also face issues of trust, truth, and forgiveness. As more of their story is revealed, the novel becomes more touching and relevant.
Its important themes of integrity, forgiveness, trust, honesty, and second chances fill The Favored Cowboy with meaning. It is a special novel that is wonderfully romantic, adventurous, and emotionally-impactful. The Favored Cowboy is a memorable story worthy of a reader’s time and attention, and I eagerly recommend it. I will certainly be reading the next book in this series as well.
