Publisher's Book Description

“Sage Rhodes is eager to escape Manchester, England, and leave behind the pain of a broken engagement. When she’s offered the job as a lady’s maid to Augusta Lennox, who is traveling to Vancouver Island to visit her brother, Sage happily accepts the position.

Not so long ago, brilliant engineer Jackson Lennox faced a terrible tragedy during the building of a suspension bridge in the Fraser River Valley and becomes a recluse in his fine home in Victoria. When his sister and her beautiful lady’s maid arrive on his doorstep, he’s reluctant to welcome the visitors.

Organized and efficient, Sage starts to bring order not only to Jackson’s home but also to his life. Even though at first they clash, the attraction between the beauty and the beast is undeniable. Still, they do their best to ignore it. But when Augusta goes missing and they’re thrust into a dangerous adventure together, circumstances require them to pretend they’re married.

Will the charade—and their forced proximity—change their hearts…or ruin them both forever?”

My Review

His Perfect Bride, by Jody Hedlund, is the third book in The Bride Ships New Voyages series. This novel is filled with an enticing blend of history, adventure, romance, and intrigue. Ms. Hedlund is an accomplished storyteller who crafts books that are always thoughtful and engaging. In His Perfect Bride, she has created yet another novel that is truly satisfying. Page after page, unexpected twists and plenty of drama combine with vivid settings and memorable characters to form a story that is well-written and wholly entertaining.

From the crowded spaces of Manchester, England, to the open expanses of Vancouver Island, to rugged wilderness areas of rivers and forests, to remote and sparse settlements, the settings of this novel are beautifully described and vital to the storyline. They not only provide challenges and interest to the story, but they often give the characters the places, opportunities, and motivations they need to consider their goals, face their insecurities, find hope, and nurture their faith. Throughout the book, these characters are interesting and dynamic. Their idiosyncrasies, insecurities, and goals make them relatable and vulnerable. Their actions and choices are emotionally moving, and their stories are truly compelling.

Finally His Bride is a special novel filled with gripping scenes of doubt, grace, peril, courage, compassion, forgiveness, and second chances. It is an utterly enjoyable novel that I can easily recommend. I am certainly looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
