My Review
Wait for Me, by Jody Hedlund, is the fourth book in the amazing Waters of Time series. Medieval adventures abound in this time-crossing story filled with dangers in both the past and the present. A unique blend of history, intrigue, love, self-sacrifice, and plenty of surprises ensure that this novel is truly captivating. Not only is Wait for Me emotionally resonant and thoughtful, it is also descriptively immersive and well-written. From the first page to the last, it is a remarkable novel that is entertaining and touching.
Once again, Ms. Hedlund has succeeded in crafting a story that is altogether creative and engaging. Memorable characters and settings in two time periods complement a storyline that moves effortlessly between events in the present and those occurring more than 700 years ago. The characters who anchor the story are very compelling. They are vulnerable, courageous, and honorable. Though they contend with enemies, fears, and threats, they continue to reflect compassion and integrity in their speech and actions. As they search for truth and cling to hope, their developing story becomes increasingly moving, surprising, and special.
Like the other books in this series, this novel is thoroughly enjoyable. It is very engrossing and filled with important themes like forgiveness, restoration, and second chances. Clever and appealing, Wait for Me is a novel I recommend wholeheartedly.
