But when a long-ago partner in crime delivers a cryptic message about her father's tech company being under cyberattack, she heads for Montana to secure exposed assets, close security breaches, and hopefully save lives.

Diplomatic Security Services special agent Alex Knight is back home in Montana to decompress from a mission gone wrong. But even as he's trying to relax, he's drawn into another mystery, complete with suspicious deaths, lethal threats, and whispers of espionage that all have one thing in common--a beautiful cybersecurity expert with a dark past.

When the situation turns deadly, Alex and Mackenzie will have to work together to find the answers they need--before someone silences Mackenzie for good.”

My Review

As the third book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, Critical Alliance, by Elizabeth Goddard, is a terrific end to a riveting series. Featuring a fast-paced story full of mystery, suspense, and danger, this novel is quite compelling. Page after page, this story entertains the reader with vivid settings, engaging characters, and a detailed plot. Enriched by important themes, such as restoration and second chances, this book is both meaningful and memorable.

Taking place primarily in Montana, the Rocky Mountain setting imbues the novel with beauty and peril. Deep ravines, rushing rivers, forested trails, and lonely roads offer plenty of opportunities for hidden dangers, secrets, and surprises. Richly detailed and immersive, the setting is relevant and truly stunning.

Within this setting, the characters in the book endeavor to piece together a variety of clues that are related to unexpected, life-threatening events. They are determined and clever as they make tough choices and face difficult situations. They are consistently relatable as they search for answers, even as they grapple with insecurities and regret. As clues multiply and they draw closer to the truth, the characters find that a fresh start might be possible after all.

From beginning to end, Critical Alliance is especially gripping and enjoyable. A true page-turner, it a well-written novel that does not disappoint. Fans of romantic suspense will be pleased with this book. I eagerly recommend it.
