Publisher's Book Description

"At the behest of her ailing mother, former FBI special agent turned rare-book collector Ivy Elliott arrives in Alaska to secure an unpublished Jack London manuscript kept secreted away for decades. But when she arrives, she learns the manuscript is gone--taken by the granddaughter of the woman who possessed it. Ivy sets off in pursuit, not just to save the manuscript but to save the vulnerable girl, who was previously trafficked and has no idea what she's getting herself into.

Joining forces with Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long, Ivy must battle a blizzard, sabotage, and the worst of an Alaskan winter as the search goes on. But every answer they find only raises more questions--and the danger to their lives and to the missing girl may only be the tip of the iceberg.

Don't miss this breathtaking race for truth set amid the glorious--and deadly--Glacier Bay from USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard."

My Review

Hidden in the Night, by Elizabeth Goddard, is the third book in the Missing in Alaska series. This novel is a page-turning blend of danger, action, mystery, and romantic tension. Suspense-filled storytelling combined with an integral setting, memorable characters, and a compelling plot make this book especially entertaining.

Detailed and descriptive settings in frigid Alaska are an essential element within this novel. Isolated small towns, icy bodies of water, lonely cabins, and secluded forests fill the story with peril, beauty, suspense, and wonder.

Responding to the uncertainties and dangers encountered in these settings are the characters who also make this book very intriguing. They are courageous and determined as they confront serious risks in their search for answers and justice. During this treacherous pursuit, they find they must also contend with events and choices from their past that force them to evaluate their motivations and insecurities in the present. Page by page, the characters begin to find the answers they need both personally and professionally, and the story becomes increasingly more meaningful and interesting as it moves toward its satisfying conclusion.

Ms. Goddard is genuinely talented at successfully blending formidable settings, characters, and surprising events into a very thrilling novel. Like the other books in this series, Hidden in the Night is a special book that is truly engaging. I gladly recommend it.
