Publisher's Book Description

“Charity Courtney is at her wit's end trying to save her boardinghouse from a bank foreclosure. Short of money but not short of marriage proposals, she dreads putting aside her fairy tale dreams of love and having to settle for a marriage of convenience. But with the need to provide for her two younger sisters, she doesn't have any other options.

While visiting Fairplay, wealthy railroad magnet Hudson Vanderwater hears of Charity's plight. Although he comes across as cold and calloused, he is drawn to helping women in need because of a tragedy that destroyed his sister. He concocts a plan that will save Charity-he'll employ her and rent her boardinghouse for the month and in doing so alleviate her debt.

With a grumpy and demanding new boarder who is now her boss, Charity determines to hold the handsome Hudson at arm's length. But she's the sunshine for his stormy soul, and he can't resist being drawn to her. As danger closes in and threatens to destroy Charity, he'll stop at nothing to save her.”

My Review

Cherishing the Cowgirl, by Jody Hedlund, is the second book in the Colorado Cowgirls series. From beginning to end, this historical romance is utterly captivating. Page after page, this novel is filled with plenty of surprises, strong personalities, amorous desire, misunderstandings, and intrigue. Compelling characters, a bit of mystery, and a thoroughly enticing story make this book especially entertaining.

This well-written story unfolds dramatically within the rugged mountains of the Colorado Territory. Financial needs, business arrangements, and stubborn hearts tangle together and challenge the characters’ predetermined expectations and goals. When disgraceful rumors jeopardize their futures, these characters grow more authentic, vulnerable, and honest with themselves and with each other. The characters are quite moving as they struggle with deep issues of faith, doubt, trust, truth, and forgiveness. Through them, the story becomes genuinely touching and thoughtful.

Cherishing the Cowgirl is a very special novel made even more appealing by important themes such as perseverance, trust, and integrity. It is an engaging story that is exceedinglingly romantic, adventurous, and emotionally-stirring. I eagerly recommend it, and I am more than ready to read the next book in this series!
