My Review


A Twist of Faith, by Pepper Basham, is the first book in the Mitchell’s Crossroads Series. This entertaining novel is an extremely clever retelling of “Pygmalion” or “My Fair Lady” complete with contemporary plot twists, genuine humor, and swoon-worthy romance. The pacing of the plot is seamless, thoroughly engaging the reader page after page. The characters are extremely well-developed and their dialogue is full of real-life wit and wisdom. The characters are wholly relatable and intriguing as they pursue their dreams, grapple with grace and forgiveness, and soften their hearts in unexpected ways. This novel is funny, romantic, surprising, inspiring, and utterly endearing. It is a remarkable start to a series I cannot wait to continue reading. A Twist of Faith is delightful from beginning to end, and I enthusiastically recommend it to all readers.

My Reflection

It was inspiring to follow the characters as they grew to accept that God’s grace was freely available to them, even as they wrestled with the often difficult work of giving and receiving forgiveness. I am always encouraged when I find a novel that not only entertains the reader, but also encourages the reader to reflect upon the soul’s need for unconditional love and acceptance. Within its fictional setting, A Twist of Faith is a novel that entertains, encourages, and inspires the reader with the very real truth that God’s unconditional love and acceptance is available for all who choose to believe and accept it.
