Nonfiction Book Review: Undaunted: Daring to do what God calls you to do

Publisher's Description:

"Christine Caine offers life-transforming insights about how not only to overcome the challenges, wrong turns, and often painful circumstances we all experience, but also to actually grow from those experiences and be equipped and empowered to help others. Using her own dramatic life story, Caine shows how God rescued her from a life where she was unnamed, unwanted, and unqualified. She tells how she overcame abuse, abandonment, fears, and other challenges to go on a mission of adventure, fueled by faith and filled with love and courage. Her personal stories inspire readers to hear their name called, just as Christine heard her own―“You are beloved. You are the hope. You are chosen”―to go into a dark and troubled world, knowing each of us possess all it takes to bring hope, create change, and live completely for Christ. Part inspirational tale, part manifesto to stir readers to lives of adventure, Undaunted shows the way with spiritual wisdom and insight."

My Review:

Undaunted: Daring to do what God calls you to do, by Christine Caine, is a tremendous piece of autobiographical, inspirational nonfiction. By detailing personal experiences of overcoming great trials in her own life through her deep faith in Biblical truths, Ms. Caine challenges readers to believe wholeheartedly that they too have been called by God in this period of history to shine the light of the Gospel in a dark world. By presenting a fresh perspective on the “Good Samaritan” story found in Luke chapter 10, Ms. Caine encourages readers to make space for “divine interruptions” in which God presents opportunities to serve others in unexpected ways.

Throughout the book, Ms. Caine admonishes readers not only to be vigilant in identifying the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of desperate people surviving in an evil world, but also to be fearless in addressing those needs with personal time, resources, and prayer. Ms. Caine reminds readers that they are intimately known by God, deeply loved by God, specifically chosen by God, and thoroughly equipped by God to make a difference in the lives of those who are broken, lost, and hurting.

Undaunted is a book that I highly recommend. It boldly challenges, encourages, and inspires Christ-followers to live with purpose, courageously sharing the saving grace of Jesus with those in great need of hope and redemption.
