Willow agrees to go with the hope that eventually she can save enough money for her family to join her.

Rebellious knuckle-boxing champion Caleb Edwards loves Willow more than life itself. But Willow has been adamant that she sees him as a friend and nothing more. Unable to watch her sail away, Caleb uses his prize money to pay for passage to Vancouver Island to be with Willow.”

My Review

Finally His Bride, by Jody Hedlund, is the first book in The Bride Ships New Voyages series. Plenty of history, adventure, and romance are woven together throughout this book making it a thoroughly engaging novel! Surprising twists, captivating settings, and compelling characters add impressive interest to a story that is certainly worthy of reading.

As a writer with unflagging talent, Ms. Hedlund has succeeded yet again in crafting a novel that is truly interesting and moving. From Manchester, England, to a crowded ship, to the open spaces of Vancouver Island, the settings of this novel are detailed and essential. They not only add depth and allure to the story, but also provide opportunities and places for the characters in this book to pursue their goals, overcome their insecurities, find hope, and nurture their faith. Throughout the book, these characters are memorable and interesting. Their loyalties, fears, and decisions are emotionally stirring, making it easy to become invested in their stories and the plot details that flow from them.

Scenes of love, danger, hope, uncertainty, courage, compassion, and second chances fill the pages of this novel ensuring that it is thoroughly entertaining and memorable. Rich with details, dialogue, and drama, this story is well-written and edifying. Finally His Bride is a special novel that I am happy to recommend. I enjoyed reading it, and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
